Medal Ceremony

We will have our annual Medal Ceremony on November 3, 2015 at 12:30 in the R. L. Young auditorium.  At this time we will be recognizing students who scored "Close" or "Ready" on the ACT Aspire test last year while they were in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade at R. L. Young in the area of math, reading, and science.  We will also recognize students who showed progress in text complexity.  We look forward to honoring our students at this special event.

Socktober


Wednesday is crazy sock day for Drug Free Week. We are currently collecting new socks for adults and children for those in need. This is a class competition so please send your socks through Wednesday.

PAWS-itively Drug Free at RL Young

Red Ribbon Week 2015

Talladega City Schools is recognizing Red Ribbon Week October 26-30. The theme for this year is Talladega is Paws-Itively Drug Free.

On Monday, the dress up day is "Shade Out Drugs." Everyone should wear sunglasses. Students will be signing Drug Free Pledges.

Tuesday is Super-Heroes Don't Do Drugs. Students dress as super-heroes. Mrs. Rigdon and our school nurse will be presenting to our students.

Wednesday is "Sock It To Drugs." Break out your favorite silly socks and wear shoes. We also ask that students bring in new pairs of kids and adult socks for those in need. A prize will be awarded to the class with the most socks!

On Thursday, kids can "Follow their Dreams" and wear their pajamas to school. The pajamas need to be in school dress code.

Friday is Paws-Itively Red Against Drugs and we ask that everyone wear red. There will be a balloon release at the board office.

Kindergarten Alphabet Book

The kindergarten alphabet book orders are due Tuesday, October 6th. Each students is featured in the full color 8x8 Shutterfly book. This is a great keepsake and review tool to use with your student! If you have any questions please email Mrs. Taylor at ataylor@talladega-cs.net. Books are $15 and checks should be made to RL Young.
