AR is A'Blazing... at R. L. Young

Every week classrooms in grades 2-6 are ranked to see who earns the highest comprehension average % . That means every student in the class working together to reach the goal. This week's top 5 classes are listed above. Mrs. Lamberth's 4th graders took the lead and were awarded the Highest Comprehension Trophy. But not only did the trophy come to their classroom...but a MONSTER, too!
The monster, Frankie, visits only during the month of October. He sings, dances, and his eyes light up when he sees children reading! He will spend the week with Mrs. Lamberth and her awesome readers.

The Top 20 Board is an important part of our AR Program. Students with 85% or higher have an opportunity to be listed on the board. We start with the student earning the most points. Sometimes there is a tie and both names are listed. It is amazing that we have representatives from various grade levels.
Our school comprehension average is also monitored. 89.4 is very impressive, but I know our students will go much higher. We still have 34 students who are below 85%. This will improve as well with much work from the students and teachers. Everyone has to do their part, including parents.

How can you help your child? Visit the AR website. There is a link on this blog that will take you right to it. Look on the left side: AR Website. Request to be added as a parent. Include an email address so that the login and password can be sent to you. This way you can see what your child is reading, how they are doing on their tests, and you can choose to receive an email every time they test. Pretty cool way to stay in contact with their reading progress.
