Children sometimes get sick, family emergencies occur, and things happen. But having a goal to be in school as much as possible gives teachers more TEACHING time and students more LEARNING time. The child also understands that school is important and they are expected to go.
If your family is planning a trip that interfers with the school days, you must have the abscences approved by the principal BEFORE the trip occurs. Failure to get approval will result in UNEXCUSED ABSENCES and possible truancy problems. Students must miss no more than 20 days to be eligible for promotion to the next grade. Parents may send up to 10 parent notes to excuse absences. After the 10 note limit is reached, a doctor's note must be turned in.
The excused absences are as follows:
*illness of student
*death in the immediate family of the student
*inclement weather which would be dangerous to the life and health of the student as determined by the principal
*legal quarantine
When a child is absent, the parent has 3 days to send a note explaining the absence. Make up work will be accepted for excused absences ONLY.
Excessive tardies may be considered truancy. Students with 15 or more tardies per semester may be referred to Juvenile Court.
Please send your child to school EVERY single day possible!
