Message to All R. L. Young Students from the Principal

As we kick off another school year, as principal I wanted to share my thoughts with each R. L. Young student. My summer was full of scheduling, cleaning, dreaming, ordering materials, and planning a wonderful 2013-14 year.

Mr. Jemison was also busy getting ready for you. Painting, sanding floors, cleaning out, organizing a new 30+ computer lab for Mrs. Beard, moving classrooms, waxing floors were just a few things on his long TO DO list. If you see him in the hall, be sure to let him know that things are looking good at RLY!

Mrs. Hodnett worked this summer to ensure the opening of school was a smooth one. She enrolled many new faces which we are delighted to have! Give her a big ole' smile when you visit the office.

Mrs. Diane jumped back on board these past two weeks (even though we know she came back all summer to give the flowers a cool drink of H2O!). The grounds have never looked better!

Test scores are back and I can't wait to visit each room and allow you to reflect on your successes and identify your challenges. We are all very good at some things and need to put extra effort toward other things. Learning and knowing these areas is key to being successful. We will take a look together and make a plan for the new school year.

The teachers have visited the school all summer preparing for your return. We met several times this week and celebrated all of the things that were accomplished this past school year. They are proud of the test results and the HUGE effort you displayed during the week of ARMT and DIBELS testing. They are all ready for YOU!

The wait is almost over and I look forward to having you back on campus for another great school year.

p.s.
To those students moving on to 7th grade, we wish you a very successful year. Remember you will always represent your elementary school. We will miss you!

R. L. Young...a good place to learn and grow!
