Getting To Know Your Child's School

How will I know how my child is progressing?
Graded work and a conduct grade will be sent home each FRIDAY. It is very important that you sign the folder and return on promptly on Monday. This lets the teacher know that you are informed. You may also check the INOW PARENT PORTAL to see all grades and attendance.
Progress reports will be sent after 4 ½ weeks and report cards will come each 9 weeks.

What are the grading procedures?
Students that have an excused absence may make up missed work. They have 5 days to complete and turn in assignments. It is the responsibility of the child/parent to see that work is completed and returned. Children who are suspended may not make up any missed work.

What do I do if my child has a low conduct grade?
Your child may receive a RED NOTE if their grade falls below a C during the week. This is important because you can make adjustments at home before the week ends. Some teachers do a daily report to inform parents of any situations. Communication with the teacher is vital to your child’s success.

What if my child is referred to the principal’s office?
If your child is sent to the office, 50 points will be deducted from the weekly conduct grade. If they are suspended, your child will make a 0 for the week, and all missed work and tests cannot be made up.

Teachers try several methods before referring a child to the office, such as talking to them privately, involving the counselor, and talking with the parent. When parents and the school work closely together, the child is much more successful.
