Cool Way to Organize School Stuff
Busy, busy, busy would be a good way to describe our lives today. Our students are involved in so many afterschool programs, which is a good thing. But how does a parent stay on top of paper work, progress reports to be signed, homework completion, and events at school?
Check out this cute idea I discovered on pinterest.com. This site has tons of organizational ideas. It appears to be a one-stop location for everybody's stuff! I wish I had seen this when my children where little.
Parenting is a tough job, but when parents are on top of things that come home from the schoolhouse, the child is the winner. We love parent involvement and really appreciate when you sign and return requested items. It helps us know that your child and his/her education is a top priority in your home!

R. L. Young Welcomes Talladega High School
What a grand show Talladega High School brought to R. L. Young students this week. THS celebrated homecoming and for many of the students it really was "a coming home" to the school they once attended. Enjoy these photos of this fun event. A special thanks to Ms. Cheryl Ford, THS cheerleader sponsor, for overseeing the visit.
Former students of R. L. Young
We are proud of all of you and appreciate the visit!

Shoparoo..........Take a Pic....Help our School!
What is Shoparoo?
- Shoparoo is a free app for smartphones and tablets that lets anyone turn pictures of shopping receipts into donations to your school.
- With Shoparoo, every grocery receipt - regardless of the store or products purchased - earns money for your school.
- It's similar to other widely adopted box top and label collection programs, but with much less work involved. With Shoparoo, there's no collecting, tracking, mailing, or shipping. In fact, you don't even need a coordinator. (Though Shoparoo is most effective when you mention it alongside your school's existing fundraisers.)
- Finally, it's private. There's no need for parents to provide sensitive information such as their name, address, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, etcetera.

Listening to Children
When parents inquire about their child's day, they know that school is very important to them. This is a common occurrence in the homes of our children. Often parents will call to confirm things that happen during the day. This communication between school and home is a good thing. We welcome your participation and support!

1st Six Week TOP DOG Earns GIANT BEAR!
For the first nine weeks of school, our students have been working to earn animal cards and win stuffed animals from the state of California. Each week, students with perfect attendance receive an animal card. This program is funded by our very supportive PTO. We also draw for a stuffed animal winner.
When the State of Alabama's 20 day count ended, a drawing was held and Kindergartener Shavaria B. won this beautiful giant bear. She was very excited and so was her principal. Her family is helping to start her school experiences off right with good, solid attendance. When students have good attendance, everyone wins!
Please make sure your child(ren) attend school on a regular basis. It will better their chances for academic success in the current grade and in the future.
