OurFreehelp.com...cash for schools

OurFreehelp.com has created a Corporate Sponsored online perpetual fundraiser for schools, churches, non-profit and special interest groups; it includes a free website and free hosting.

Thru OurFreeHelp.com, they give access to about 150 advertiser offers for products and services that people use everyday from large corporate national brands.

When supporters try these offers, the organization gets a large monetary (thank you!) payout, usually a multiple of what the consumer spends. You can see the money that each offer pays at http://demo.ourfreehelp.com/

Thru OurFreeHelp.com, everybody wins. The corporate sponsor gets a customer. The consumer saves money. The organization makes money.

Nobody is bogged down with another time-consuming fundraiser. There's no selling and no inventory.

School Calendar Link

A great link for you and your family is the R.L. Young Calendar (take a peek by clicking on this) located on the left side of the blog. This link carries you to a calendar with all the special events for this school year. This information will make it easier for you. Make note of Honor Roll Assemblies and PTO meetings.

2009 School Supplies Link

A new link located on the left side of our blog has been added for access to the school supply lists for your child. Just click the link and look for your child's grade level.

Most grade levels at R.L.Young offer the option of a supply donation. This allows teachers to buy in bulk and pay no sales tax. They also can buy as needed and not have to store lots of materials in their rooms.

R. L. Young supply lists can also be found at Walgreens and WalMart (in the electronics section).

R. L. Young is BUZZING with Activity

There is a buzz at R. L. Young as teachers one by one visit and spend the day preparing for YOU!

Many teachers are working at home, checking the "just for young teachers" blog for scheduling information to prepare for a new school year.

Mr. Jemison, with help from Maintenance, has worked all summer cleaning carpets, painting, rearranging furniture to make room for 7 weeks of MUSIC, and preparing for a new laptop computer lab to be located in Annex 1.

Rolls are being formed and the class lists will be posted on the front doors JULY 24TH.
Don't forget our MEET AND GREET on AUG. 6 which features a choice of two sessions 5 to 6 OR 6 to 7. This is a sit down meeting filled with important information about the specific grade levels.
WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR BEE-UTIFUL FACES!!

Everyone Needs a Vacation

Everyone needs a vacation...to allow the mind a chance to unwind. A change of scenery aids in accomplishing this.

Unwinding the mind may be particularly hard for folks in the educational world, especially in the field of administration. We interact with so many people on a daily basis. The schools are so important to us, especially the children. Our families sometimes have to wait, call back, or keep supper in the oven until we drag through the door.

My family has allowed me to truly love what I do, listen to my nonstop chatter about R. L. Young, and help me with an endless amount of school based projects. It does help that both of my children, Haley and Luke, attended all of their elementary years at Young. We have a mountain of wonderful memories. They love it, too!

It is important for us to remember our families, friends, and loved ones who were there before we got our administrative positions. I have enjoyed spending time with my husband Stan at the beach this week. We have laughed, reconnected, and just enjoyed catching up. He doesn't make me feel guilty about the time I give to the school or about loving my job.

Of course, none of us is promised tomorrow and the bottom line is that life is really about the quality of our relationships. Relationships are vital to our happiness and an investment of time is extremely important. I am thrilled to have a job where I feel I am making a difference in the lives of children, but I am equally thankful to have such a wonderful husband and family in which to share my life.

Honoring Special Teachers

We've all had at least one - a special teacher whom we've never forgotten - someone whose bountiful knowledge or nurturing spirit or shining example had an impact on us. That teacher was someone about whom we can honestly say, "I am a better person for having been this person's student."

Share your story. Tell Alabama Public Television (APTV) about the special teacher you knew in your life. Give this person the recognition he/she deserves by telling your story and tribute for all to read. Click here to nominate your favorite teacher.
