Carr Named New Coach at Young

Please welcome to R.L. Young Brantley Carr. He has filled a very exciting role as our new P.E. teacher. Coach Carr's birthday is January 27th. He said his favorite activity is watching football. Coach Carr graduated from Huntingdon College where he also played football as a wide receiver.

His favorite color is red and he likes to shop at Alabama Outdoors or Academy. At his last job he worked as a football coach at Montgomery Catholic. Coach Carr's parents are Bruce and Tracy Carr. He has a sister named Brooke.

We are very happy to have him as part of our staff and hope that you will take the time to introduce yourself to him. Coach Carr will take over the responsibility of planning Forever Young Field Day.

Survey

The Talladega City School System is in the process of conducting a survey January 4-17 to get parental and community input regarding the future direction of the Talladega City Schools. This information will be used in developing the strategic plan for the school system.  To take this survey, go to http://www.talladega-cs.net/, click on the Community tab at the top, and then click on Take the Survey. The survey takes only a few minutes, and your input will be invaluable.  If you do not have internet access, the computer lab at R. L. Young will be open Monday, January 11th, 2:35 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  If you arrive after 3:00, please park in front of the school and enter through the main entrance.

If you take the survey at home, please send a note to your child's teacher and your child will receive a Hardwork Cafe Pass or a Homework Pass just for participating.  You will also be given the pass of your child's choice if you complete the survey in the computer lab at school. R. L. Young parents have always been very involved in issues affecting their children; therefore, I encourage you to participate in this very important survey.  Thanks so much for your continued support and cooperation!

Christmas Thank You

A Work of Art
I want to thank all of the students and teachers for the beautiful pictures they gave me for Christmas for my office.  They contain a hand print of each child in the school for my first year as principal. This was such a special gift.  I will treasure it always.
