Library Books ONLINE!

To access online books, go to :

www.mycapstonelibrary.com

I clicked on "show all" and selected a book. Make sure the speakers are on. It shows the level of the book incase they want to take an AR test. It must be in their specially determined range.

Username: readers

Password: book
*It did not ask me for a username and password, but I accessed it while in the school system.

Why is this important?
Children can now have added support to figure out words that they do not know. The audio feature can be turned off if not needed. They can also try reading the book without assistance and then again if they hit a snag or two. This would also make a great center in the classroom. There are many books in which to choose.

Thanks to Ms. Lane, R. L. Young's librarian, for sharing this important information!

American Tea Party

We had the privilege of having Ms. Millie Chastain visit our classes.  She discussed the history of Veteran's Day, flag etiquette, and read us a cool pop-up book entitled,  America.  And, to top things off, we had a "Tea Party" complete with snacks and lemonade.  We enjoyed her visit and learned a lot about respecting our flag, country, leaders of our country, and one another.
Thank you Ms. Millie for taking time out of your day to speak with us.

Highest Comprehension for the Week

Mrs. Davidson's second graders have sported the AR Highest Comprehension Trophy and Frankie the Monster this week. Will they be able to hang on to their big win?

Apple Annie Day at R. L. Young on Nov. 2

R. L. Young students have an opportunity to purchase a fresh, tasty treat on November 2 thanks to the Talladega Junior Welfare League. Each year, league members load hundreds of apples in vehicles to sell all over the city. The funds raised by the yearly sale of the apples benefit schools, help high school students earn scholarships, provide holiday baskets to needy families, and so much more.
We were proud to play a small part in the League's efforts to help make a difference in the community!
