R. L. Young Student Earns 500 AR Points

Congratulations to Jake C., sixth grader in Mrs. French's homeroom. He reached 500 points in the Accelerated Reader program. The prize for this accomplishment was to dine at his favorite restaurant with his teacher, the principal, and his parents. He chose Fuji's in Oxford. Pictured above to the left: Mrs. French, Mr. Champion, Mrs. Champion, Jake, and Mrs. Thomas (standing).

The cook prepared the meal in front of us and put on quite a show.
Relax, no one was hurt. It was part of the lunch preparations!
The cook also asked if Jake wanted to catch a bite of food in his mouth, which he did!
Jake was made to feel very special and even got a yummy dessert. By the end of lunch, he was so full, he got it in a "to go" box. Thanks, Fuji's for a great time!
We are very proud of Jake!

REPORT CARDS TODAY! APRIL 17

Alert, news flash! Your child has a report card coming home TODAY. Find something positive to say AND help your child find something that needs improvement. PRAISE makes a big difference. The last six weeks has already begun!

p.s. If your child's report is not satisfactory, consider the following items:
*Is your child frequently tardy?
*Does your child complete homework?
*Does YOU and your child study for tests?
*Does your child know school is important to you, too?
*Does your child bring the necessary supplies to class?
*Do you visit the school for an occasional lunch date or to speak to the teacher?
*Is your child frequently absent from school, but could have probably attended?

The problem may not be his/her ability to learn, but obstacles that can be easily removed.
