Journaling School Wide Project Update

When our students returned to school after Christmas, they were all given the opportunity to select a journal of their choice. The teachers slowly introduced the expectations and tools to help them become journal writers. Each writer created an "Expert List" to help provide writing topics, if needed. Also, included in the inside cover were the most used sight words for easy reference.

Just as we suspected, our school is full of talented writers. Each child chooses his/her own topic and as principal, I have been quite amused at how well the project is going.
Amari J. chooses to write about being proud of her accomplishments.
Although these three students are only first graders, you would not be able to tell from their writing expertise and artwork.

Laquez W. wrote about all of the snow.

Payton M. wrote about her teacher.

Sara wrote about an upcoming holiday.
Logan C. decided to be reflective and shared his thoughts about Honor Roll Assembly and his improvement in conduct.

Taylor has figured out that when something huge happens in your life, writing it down keeps the memories fresh forever.
She got to meet someone famous and you will recognize him from the picture! WOW!

 TAYLOR AND JUSTIN BIEBER!
We are very excited about all of the writing happening at R. L. Young. I will continue to keep you posted on our progress. Happy Writing to all of our students!
