The Story of Ferdinand

Regan G. and Mikella F., Two Talladega High School students and members of the FCCLA Club, helped design a program that addresses bullying AND accepting yourself. The program was built around a book entitled, "The Story of Ferdinand" by Munro Leaf. In an email to me, Regan states, " What our program aims to do is teach children that we are all different and not to make fun of someone because they are different".

I had the pleasure of reading this book to 1st and 2nd graders prior to the presentation. The children were very receptive to these high school students and the message they shared. They especially liked that they wore costumes to portray the characters in the book.

This program fit right into our efforts to help educate students on what bullying looks like and how it can be addressed at school.
Kudos to Career Tech Director Mrs. Turner, Career Tech teacher Kim Mitchell, Regan, and Mikella!  We appreciate all of your efforts.
